Steven Judd, 33, of Ephrata, is accused of "pointing a loaded handgun at the victim and striking her with the handgun," area police stated in a release on Thursday, Nov. 16.
Officers were called to a reported domestic dispute at Judd's home in the first block of Pacific Boulevard just before midnight on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
The victim refused medical care at the scene, the police explained.
Judd was arrested and was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, and a summary offense of harassment, according to the police and confirmed by court documents.
He was released on a $10,000 surety bond as set by Magisterial District Judge David P. Miller during his preliminary arraignment at 8:20 a.m. on Nov. 15. He is under non-monetary conditions for release, "due to Firearm being used in the allegation," as stated in his court docket.
His preliminary hearing has been set before the Honorable Judge David L. Ashworth at 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 22, according to his latest docket.
Officers came to Steven Judd's home for a domestic dispute at 11:12 p.m. on Nov. 7, 2022, a previous Ephrata police release details.
"Officers responded to a 911 call and arrived and made contact with the victim, who had visible injuries from a physical altercation," as written in the release.
For that incident, Judd was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for simple assault, a misdemeanor for terroristic threats, and a summary offense for harassment, the police explained and court records confirmed.
He was released on 10% cash towards his $15,000 bail— also a conditional release, but those funds were later refunded after the case was dismissed on July 21, 2023 — the same day the Call of the Criminal Trial List was scheduled before Judge Thomas B. Sponaugle, according to court records.
Less than a month before the case was dismissed, Judd's life seemed to have already returned to normal as he spoke with LNP reporter Erin Negley about the air quality issues from the Canadian Wild Fires while walking his black lab along the Ephrata rail trail on Thursday, June 8, 2023.
The article noted that he ended his walk because he had a "headache and sinuses that felt heavier than usual." Judd told Negley, “I have to get out and get fresh air as much as I can.”
It is unknown if the victim was the same woman in both cases.
